Designed by architect Juan O’Gorman in the early 1930s, the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Studio is one of Mexico’s pioneering examples of functionalist architecture. In San Ángel, two striking houses—one for Rivera and one for Kahlo—stand as independent structures connected by a narrow rooftop bridge. The couple moved here in 1934, and Rivera continued working in the complex for more than two decades. Inside his double-height studio, large windows, easels, art materials, and collected objects preserve the atmosphere of his working environment, offering you an unusually intimate perspective on the creative life of one of Mexico’s most influential artists and the development of modern Mexican architecture.
