Perched atop Chapultepec Hill, Chapultepec Castle has witnessed some of the defining chapters of Mexico’s history. Built in the late 18th century, it later became the Military College and was a key site during the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847. Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlota transformed the castle into their imperial residence, and it subsequently served as a presidential residence for several Mexican leaders. Today, it houses the National Museum of History, where collections and monumental murals trace the country’s past. After exploring the castle and its elevated terraces, descend into Chapultepec Forest and continue your visit through the surrounding park.
